Puzder Set to Receive Labor Secretary Nod

As president-elect Trump continues stocking his cabinet ahead of Inauguration Day, there’s one position he reportedly can cross off his list: Secretary of Labor.

On Thursday morning, sources close to the Trump transition team reported that Andrew Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants—parent company to the Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. fast-food chains—has been selected by Trump to head up the Department of Labor (DOL).

Puzder is a vocal opponent of the Affordable Care Act and the DOL’s new overtime rules, claiming in an op-ed that the latter strips reclassified employees of flexibility and “prestige.” Under Puzder’s tenure, the DOL would likely roll back many of the regulations put in place by the current labor secretary, Obama-appointee Thomas Perez.

The Namely team will update this story with a full look at Puzder’s positions on overtime, paid family leave, and other workplace issues.
