Namely Partners with Sequoia and Raises $45M Series C Round

It’s been such an exciting year for Namely. Today, following our $11 million in funding this past March, I’m thrilled to announce that we closed a $45 million Series C round led by Sequoia.

Our goal at Namely has always been to create the future of HR—the easy and intuitive management of a company’s most valuable asset: its people. To do so, we need to build ourselves to be a lasting company. Sequoia has helped Apple, Google, Oracle, and so many more to do just that. We couldn’t be happier to continue our journey with Sequoia as a partner.

We started Namely in 2012 believing that great teams deserved great tools to manage their talent, and we would be nowhere today if not for our amazing clients. From Day 1 at Namely, the companies we work with—today’s most exciting, growing brands—have been our biggest priority. They are companies we know will power the economy of tomorrow. What we do is provide them with what they need to work together even better—and keep their vibrant cultures intact as they add the valuable people they need.

Many growing companies have never had access to an end-to-end HR solution before. Namely’s additions of payroll and benefits have made us the very first complete HR platform for small and medium-sized companies as they scale. We’ve been amazed by the positive response to our launch of benefits, with many clients immediately signing up to work with our benefits experts. Furthermore, I’m proud to say that in less than a year, we are already processing more than $1 billion in payroll—making Namely the fastest-growing payroll provider in history.

As our clients continue to grow their companies, we’re here for them.

For our latest funding, we will continue to expand our growing team to offer even more services and further deepen our product:

• We’ve just opened a new office in San Francisco. In August, we’ll be moving into our expanded company headquarters in the heart of New York’s Financial District.
   
• We’ve hired a VP of Client Services, Debra Squyres, who has held HR leadership positions for over 20 years and was most recently Executive Director of Client Services at TriNet.
   
• Beyond payroll and benefits, we’ve added a lot of new features to Namely in the last 12 months, including enhancements to our news feed, payroll updates, and new product integrations. We’re going to continue, like we always have, to enhance Namely to help our clients even more.
