Amazon Raised Its Minimum Wage to $15. Is Your Company Next?

Score another win for the "Fight for $15" movement. Online mega-retailer Amazon delivered welcome news to employees last week, announcing that it would increase its minimum wage to $15 per hour. The change takes effect next month and applies to the company's more than 350,000 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees. Whole Foods, the upscale grocery chain owned by Amazon, will also be subject to the change.

Turning 26: Answering Millennials' Benefits Questions

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), dependent children are eligible to receive their parents’ coverage until age 26. But what happens after that? Depending on the specific benefits their parents have, they may end up losing coverage immediately on their birthday.

NY Sexual Harassment Training Requirement Takes Effect October 9

On October 9, 2018, New York will join California, Connecticut, and Maine as the fourth state in the nation to require mandatory training in sexual harassment prevention for all organizations with employees based in the state. New York City is doing its own part too, with additional training legislation going into effect in April 2019. (Not to worry about following two sets of training requirements, though—the New York State training requirements are expected to be essentially similar to those of NYC.)
